Awards Season Fantasy Draft Hub
Welcome to The Awards Season Fantasy Draft hub! Back in 2020, our hosts noticed that fantasy drafts were made up completely of sports-based topics (Football, Baseball, etc) and asked, why don’t we have Fantasy Leagues for Awards Season?
Participants select films, studios, creatives, and more, in order to earn points throughout awards season, culminating with The Oscars.

Oscar Wild’s All-Stars Awards Season Fantasy Draft Rules
In this game, each team will try to draft the films, directors, actors, and crew members that they believe will earn them the most points throughout awards season
Points can be earned when your pick scores a nomination and/or win at the following awards ceremonies:
NBR, NYFCC, LAFCA, and NSFC
Film Independent Spirit Awards
Technical Guilds, SAG, WGA, DGA, and PGA
Golden Globes
Critics’ Choice
BAFTA
Oscars
Scoring System:
Nominations: 1 Point
Oscar Nominations: 2 Points
Critics (NYFCC, LAFCA, Critics Choice), Indie Spirit, and Technical Guild Wins: 3 Points
Major Precursor Wins (SAG, WGA, DGA, Golden Globes, BAFTA): 4 Points
Oscar Wins: 5 Points
General Categories
The general categories include three films, three actors, three actresses, three directors, and three additional creatives
One of your selections in the “Film” category allow you to earn points in any category where that film receives a nomination or win, the other two films will earn points only in the picture category. Other picks will earn points based on their specific category.
Once a selection has been made, that person is off the board in other categories. The only exception is in the Film category. For example, if one team took Barbie, another could take Greta Gerwig.
If one person has multiple projects, you must specify which project you’re selecting (except in Wild Card). For example, if you want to draft Timothee Chalamet, you would have had to specify if you want him for A Complete Unknown or Dune: Part Two
Here is a breakdown of where points can be earned in other categories
Specialty Categories
Speciality categories are separate from the general categories and can cross-over/repeat.
For example, if you selected The Holdovers in the general “Film” category, you could also select it as an AARP pick.
However, specialty categories cannot repeat. For example, if you picked Annette Bening for AARP, you couldn’t select her for the JLC Award.
AARP Pick- choose a film, director, or actor that you think will earn points at the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards
The Jamie Lee Curtis Award- choose a person who we think would be active on the campaign trail. You can earn points for roundtable appearances, tributes, and speeches.
If your pick’s extreme campaigning is successful and results in an Oscar (Emma Stone), you’ll earn 5 extra points. If they’re unsuccessful (Bradley Cooper), you’ll lose 5 points.
Original Song- eligible for points at the HMMAs, Golden Globes, Oscars
Studio or Distributor - earn 5 points if your pick has the most nominations for Best Picture
Indie Spirit Pick- pick a film that you think will do well at the Indie Spirit Awards. This film will be a catch-all pick and eligible for points in all categories at that ceremony.
Hottest Performance- during awards season, we will conduct a March Madness-like tournament voted on by the public of the Hottest Performances of the Year. If your pick in this category aligns with the winners of that tournament in either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, your team will win 10, 5, or 2 points, respectively.
Bonus Points
Once all selections have been made, each team will have a few ways to earn bonus points:
Box Office Bonus: select one of your films that you think will earn at least $100 million domestic. If it does, you earn 10 bonus points.
Critics Darling/Festival Prize: select one of your picks that you think will earn a festival prize or a tribute (can be a film or a person). Each prize or tribute earns 2 additional points.
Catch-all Film: select one of your films to earn points in ALL categories. Your other two picks will only be eligible in picture categories.
